about

Right North, she said… is a new double CD deluxe digipak offering from cult Belgium ensemble, 48 Cameras.

This is their 10th album, comprising 23 tracks and over 100 minutes of listening pleasure. Strings, piano, woodwind, electronics, Tibetan bells, bass, brass, tin whistles, field recordings and drones; A broad palette and a large ensemble cleanly and eficiently directed by J-M Mathoul makes for a richly textured and balanced work thats right up there with other 48C releases – “After All, Isn’t Tango the Dance of the Drunk Man?” and “I Swear I Saw Garlic Growing Under my Fathers Steps”.

At present the collective features 7 core players (Michael Begg, Michel Delville, Saskia Dommisse, Nick Grey, Peter James, Calogero Marotta as well as founder Jean Marie Mathoul) and this recording features contributions from a further 23 players, including Yannick Franck and Martyn Bates.
